This week... hah oh man. Let me just paint a picture for you of what our week looked like:
monday- p day
tuesday- MLC and Ward Halloween Party
wednesday- Exchanges
thursday- West Zone Conference
friday- South Zone Conference
saturday- Ward trip to Yilan
sunday- Two wards and New Member Fireside
So to sum it up: FUNNEST WEEK EVER. All the fun things of our transfer were packed into one week. hah It also means we have ZERO time in our area, or to study, or anything like that. BUT, the Lord helped us as we worked so hard in the time we did have! We were able to hit all of our key indicators as we worked hard with members, set people up from activities, and found all the time! I had the cool experience of meeting so many awesome people in all of our travel time this week! On the MRT, Train, in our taxi, on the street, etc. There are prepared people everywhere! We just have to open our mouths to find them!
We made some big progress with some investigators this week. With some it was passing baptismal interviews and completely quitting smoking (ZENG JM), and others it was finally figuring out what is holding them back from receiving an answer or from getting baptized (PENNY and JI JM). We are feeling very blessed for receiving some very needed revelation and witnessing miracle after miracle!
Next craziest news of our lives, OUR MISSION IS GETTING SMART PHONES. Ya, I know. I'M FREAKING OUT TOO. I don't even know how to use them anymore. 15 months of our sweet Nokia has got me feeling like a grandma when it comes to the technological world... So, we shall see how this goes.
All in all though, we are STOKED. We are 1 of 9 international missions in the world that gets to use them so #blessed. But long story short, life is about to get a whole lot easier! And now, thanks to my girl Sister Wells, who has a lot more patience to write a lot more about this than I have, here is more on the subject:
"Okay, here's what I know about the smartphone situation: in the next few weeks, each missionary will receive their own filtered samsung galaxy phone (it will be our personal phone- we will take it back to america with us when we go home), and will use facebook, calling/texting (texting in chinese will be so much easier on a smart phone haha!), emailing, digitized area book and records, and be able to access videos and conference talks from lds.org. We will eventually get GPS too!!" - Well said Sister Wells. Well said.
So, I'll keep ya'll posted on that.
With meetings galore this week, we were definitely on a spiritual high! Much of our trainings this week focused on having a "vision." On a smaller scale of having a vision of a perfect contact, a perfect church service, a perfect member visit. And on a bigger scale of a vision of the transfer, or of your mission, or really of your life. We talked about the impact of having a vision of how you want something to be. Imagine it. Picture it in detail and in color. And now do what it takes to reach it. I love this idea and feel like it is an inspired pattern from the Lord. He has done that exact thing for us. He has shown us His vision for us, aka the plan of salvation. His vision is for all of His children to return back to live with Him, and he has done EVERYTHING possible to accomplish it. But now the rest is up to us. I feel like having a clear vision and direction makes the preliminary steps so much more clear. If I want this end goal, what do I need to do right now to get there? Think about that.
I know Heavenly Father has a wonderful plan for us, but that includes our participation in that plan. He cannot accomplish it on His own. I want to invite you all to think of what your own personal visions are. On a small scale- vision of work or school or fun or what not. Bigger scale- a vision of your life, marriage, mission, and ultimately your eternity. Think about that. And evaluate yourself. Is the way you are living now in line with your vision? Is it in line with the Lord's vision for you? If not, change it.
I love you all so much and feel so blessed to be serving here in Taiwan. Much love.
xoxo
