Hey Friends!
Feels weird to be back sitting here at a computer considering that we just had p-day a few days ago.. But I'll take it! These past few days have been busy as usual, but not too too crazy eventful so this one will be a shorter one! (you're welcome) hah
Last Wednesday, I had the chance to go to the temple for the first time since I was in breaking on my mission! (Breaking is your third transfer on island) Or in other words, my first time going to the temple in about 9 months! 9 MONTHS. So long it pains me! The longest period of time I will ever go in my life away from the temple! I was SO SO happy to go back inside and feel the sweet Spirit that is there. Every time I go to the temple, I have this great feeling of "coming home." It's a feeling I always want to feel.
And the temple was just the start of all of the "spirit filled" activities this week. With the craziness of covering two zones, we got to attend two different zone conferences this past week! I love love zone conference. For the obvious reasons of learning lots and being trained, but also just to hear from our sweet mission president and his wife, and learn from all of the inspiration that they receive for our mission. It is incredible. I also loved running into some old friends and past companions! Makes for so many good things all in one.
With the busyness of the past couple of days, we didn't get a chance to meet with many investigators, but, were blessed to receive many referrals and meet a lot of great people that we are excited to start working with! Next week here we come! I think the highlights of the past few days as far as investigators go were Penny and Ji JM.
Ji JM is a member referral from America! Her daughter joined the church many years ago, went on a mission, and now is married and has a family in America! Over time, she has been slowly preparing her mom, and now her mom is starting to show real interest in the gospel! She is literally our Taiwanese grandma hah. She feeds us and buys stuff for us and occasionally slaps our butts. ha! Ya, we are still confused about it, but she is really progressing! She really loves the example her daughter has shown her, and it is because of that example that she wanted to start investigating the church! Examples people. They are so important!
The latest news on Penny is that she is still working hard to get her answer. I think the biggest thing holding her back right now is simply her doubt. She wants to believe, but there are so many things causing her to fear and choose disbelief over faith. In zone conferences this week, President highlighted this principle of faith and fear. We have often heard that faith and fear cannot coexist. But I love something he said. I think often times we wonder how strong our personal faith is, and the principle really is simple.
How do I know when I have faith? When I don't have doubt or fear.
WE choose to believe. WE choose to push our doubts aside. And once we do that, it is only then that we will allow faith to come. With fear and doubts, there is no room for faith. Without them, however, there is nothing but room for Heavenly Father to help us build our faith.
Choose to believe my loved ones. Choose to rule out pride and fear, and leave room for your faith to grow and grow. I know the Lord will bless you as you do so.
I hope an excess amount of pictures can make up for a smaller email! Have a wonderful week! Love you all.
xoxo
